2024: A year of expansion for the Association of Asset Management Professionals (AMP) and Women in Reliability and Asset Management (WIRAM)

  • New WIRAM Chapters, new Black Belts, new Badges, creation of the Advocate of the Year Award, sponsorship of major Maintenance, Reliability and Asset Management conferences, and many more developments took place in 2024, all to enhance the service we provide to Asset Management professionals and organizations around the world.

  • Our Asset Management Visionaries Podcast, Shaping tomorrow, has been a resounding success with our community members.

At AMP, the Association of Asset Management Professionals, we are preparing to enter 2025 with renewed energy and the same commitment to the members of our broad global community of professionals and organizations who embrace asset management as the most expeditious path to strong and competitive businesses, while extending the useful life of assets in industry that are safe for people and the environment, with sustainable operations and results over time.

During 2024, we at AMP Association of Asset Management Professionals developed a series of activities aimed at improving our services and the resources we make available to asset management professionals. Our organization is divided into chapters around the world to coordinate efforts and resources towards fulfilling our asset management outreach activities through forums and webinars. This year new chapters were created: Abu Dhabi, South Africa and Texas, in addition to the reactivation of other chapters such as Ecuador and Washington.

WIRAM, Women in Reliability and Asset Management, is the organization under the umbrella of AMP, that works to project and elevate the image of women within the Asset Management industry in order to close the gender gap in the profession and support diversity and inclusion, which in turn will translate into better results for companies and organizations. In 2024, new chapters were inaugurated, such as the Europe Chapter. This allows organizing the efforts and initiatives of women around the world that are opening more opportunities for other professional women within the industry.

Similarly, the internal structure of the WIRAM chapters was modified, as previously the chapter leadership was made up of two co-leaders, while now there are four co-leaders per chapter, plus a PR/Marketing responsible and a secretary. New women in the USA, Canada and LATAM are occupying these positions, committing themselves to the work of Women in Reliability and Asset Management and creating more spaces for the professional development of women in this field.

New awards, recognition and winners

Within the Association of Asset Management, this year the Marketing team was created to provide better attention and support to the members of the organization, as well as to disseminate all the work we do.

This year, for the first time, the Advocate of the Year Award was created and presented to Reynaldo Marquez, CRL-Black Belt, Site Manager & General Maintenance Manager in the Doe Run organization. Marquez received this recognition at the 38th International Maintenance Conference 2024. Being the first advocate to be recognized with this award, Marquez showed his appreciation for this distinction, thus becoming an example of support and endorsement for the work of Women in Reliability and Asset Management.

New CRL Black Belts 2024

The Association of Asset Management Professionals recognized five professionals this year 2024 with the CRL Black Belt Awards, the highest recognition received by those on a journey of training, learning and continuous improvement in Asset and Reliability Management.

CRL Black Belts are earned once a project has been developed and completed for each of the Uptime® Elements™ Framework Domains, with a demonstrated positive impact on the organization targeted by those projects. Each improvement project receives a belt corresponding to the domain on which it was performed. Once at least one project per domain is completed, AMP awards the Black Belt, which this year took place during the 38th International Maintenance Conference IMC2024.
