  • 1.  Pre-prioritizing equiment

were looking at prepriorituzing our equipment such that when a notification is created the created the priority is already assigned based on equipment criticality to the process, Along with other influeces, EH&S, contingency plans if the equipment does break down etc.
Does anyone know if this can be done, and if so where? the current equipment master does not have a field and in looking in the IMG- I can't seem to find a spot were I could bring in the field. Any suggestions are mucb appriciated.
    Thanks

Pre-prioritize new Notifications created (IW26) based on the equipment criticality at the equipment record (IE01,IE02,IE03)? Hmmm.

Lets think on the Jockey Pump of the Fire Protection System, (clearly a Safety critical equipment). Should any new notification for this pump be classified as Safety or High Priority because the pump is classified as Safety-Critical?
A notification may just request to re-paint the pump and incomming piping and that job would be prioritized as Normal or Low.

Looking at the order history for a critical equipment, does the greater amount of those orders are critical?

I guess I should have added...
The creator would have the ability to either lower or raise the priority. In cases where the priority was a 1, the only option would then be to lower the priority for cases not actually critical to the functioning on the equipment, but more luxury or cosmetic in nature. The Pre-priority is mainly a "suggestion". All in All, these helps us to define our critical equipment, warehouse stock levels as essentially within reason you'd stock all the parts for P-1 equipment and it takes the "knee jerk" reaction away from the operations dept cause when equipment is down in thier area- its always critical to them but maybe not to the process. The suggested priorities are being dictated by high level management and possible operating procedures and contingency plans are being developed along side this.

Sask, the criticality definition should be agreed with operations & rest of the company esp'ly engineering or tech services.

Your suggestion is against a standard job priotization. Define your job priority first and communicate this with opertions.

Yes, your equipment criticality influences spare part stock levels. Explain this to operations as well, before attempting your non-conventional suggestion.

SAP intends the ABC Indicator field to indicate importance of an object to production operations. SAP definition is shown below. It can be found on the 'Location' tab for both Functional Locations and Equipments. SAP guru may be able to use this information in a user exit to achieve the result you are seeking.

    Definition: ABC indicator
    Cross-Application Components (CA)
Indicator that is assigned by the procedure of ABC analysis.

The following three ABC indicators are possible:

    A: important
    B: less important
    C: relatively unimportant
According to these criteria, "A" materials are those materials that are of greatest importance for the production operations of a company.

Examples of use for ABC indicators are vendor master records, material master records, and master records of technical objects.

We use the ABC field for Functional Location or Equipment criticality and:
A - We do not use it.
B - We do not use it.
    C - Defined as Critical
Added additional code: N - Defined as Non Critical

Later we decided to classify those Equipment critical due to GMP (FDA regulations) so we added code G - Defined as GMP Critical.
