  • 1.  sub work order vs operations conflict

Our company has been on SAP-PM for about 3 years. One issue I'm still at odds with is the transition between a sub-work order generation out of Maximo to a Operation assignment to a Crew Id in SAPPM.
while the idea here is to eliminate the sub work order I need a way to report order types within the orders. Those who know SAP also know that once an order has been assign any order type It cannot be changed in the operation.
The company I work for has decided that best practice is to keep all work both assigned and reactive within the same order. This keeps the costs on one order, but when you need to report reactive vs schedule the reporting issue gets muddy. you can report on the crew id but this does not accurately dictate if the order was emergency or priority under a scheduled order. So, in my lack of knowledge I come to the altars of the wise.....anyone out there have a solution or even a suggestion apart from keying off of a word from the operations?

The cost of all the sub work orders can be accumulated to the main work order and then you can use main work orders for the costing and the sub work orders for schedule and reactive work orders.

I am not sure I exactly understand your link between Maximo and SAP but fields you could look at utilising for SAP operations would be the Control Key and the Activity Type. The drawback of the Control Key for you may be that once a confirmation has been entered against an operation it cannot be changed (although this maybe an advantage). The disadvantage of Activity Type is that those entering confirmations can override the setting in the work order operation. I would start by looking at the Control Key.
The Standard Text Key field is another option for you.
