The Association of Asset Management Professionals (AMP) provides the Certified Reliability Leader® (CRL) certification to recognize individuals who demonstrate a holistic mastery of reliability leadership. Earning the CRL validates your dedication to operational excellence and confirms a thorough understanding of the practices required to lead from any position within an organization. This global standard provides a common language required to advance your professional trajectory and drive your organization’s highest objectives.
The Certified Reliability Leader® certification is based on the demonstration of an academic proficiency within all five knowledge domains of the Uptime® Elements*, a Reliability Framework and Asset Management System™.
The five domains are:
- Reliability Engineering for Maintenance
- Asset Condition Management
- Work Execution Management
- Leadership for Reliability
- Asset Management
To earn the certification, you must take the Certified Reliability Leader® (CRL) certification exam, created to validate the competencies of an organization’s professional who has mastered the language, words, phrases, ideas, concepts and fundamental knowledge necessary to engage and empower all stakeholders in an organization as a reliability leader.
It also validates those who exercise reliability leadership as a natural form of self-expression. It is a 2-hour timed, virtually proctored exam with 125 multiple-choice questions.

Steps to become a Certified Reliability Leader®
- Register for an upcoming exam. There are several throughout the year, they can be virtual or in person.
- Fill out the form, select a date and pay the registration fee.
- Prepare for the exam and study hard! It is a 2-hour timed, virtually proctored exam with 125 multiple-choice questions.
- After successfully passing the exam you will become a Certified Reliability Leader®. Your will receive a virtual diploma and your name will be published in our website. The CRL certification will last 3 years. Find out how to recertify
