A large number of engineers and asset management specialists gathered at the 2026 Asset Management Chapters Global Summit, an event organized by the Association of Asset Management Professionals (AMP), to exchange ideas, advancements, and knowledge regarding reliability, industrial maintenance, and asset management.
This virtual event was hosted by Terrence O’Hanlon, Executive Director of AMP and CEO of the Reliability Leadership Institute, and Maura Abad, Global Director of Women in Reliability and Asset Management (WIRAM) and AMP Chapter Director. Presentations were delivered by representatives from AMP chapters around the world:
- Colombia. Luis Alejandro Luna: “Optimizing Operational Availability Through the Implementation of a Reliability Excellence Model”.
- Canada. Marcia O’Connor: “Human Factor Significance in Asset Management.”
- South Africa. Jose de Sousa: “A Defect Elimination Approach to Dry Gas Seal Reliability.”
- Argentina. Roberto Axt: “Digital Transformation Strategy Guided by an Industry 5.0 Vision.”
- US, Texas. Brett Fisk: “The Importance of KPIs and How to Create Them.”
- Netherlands. Remco Jonker: “Strategic Asset Portfolio Analysis” (SAPA).
“It’s very important that we’re all gathered here today, because as an organization we always strive to foster knowledge sharing, and at this summit you’ll learn many things that you’ll later put into practice in your work—because that’s what learning is all about: applying what you learn and being able to pass it on,” Terrence remarked at the start of the session. He added that, while the world is changing and technology is advancing very quickly, investments in technology do not work well without clean data. “We are racing full speed toward adopting technology on the basis of truly deficient data governance. So let’s not spend money on useless things. Let’s spend it on things that provide us with security. This will translate into sustainability and, ultimately, into the success of your organization,” he explained.
Maura Abad also reminded attendees that the AMP’s goal is to disseminate knowledge related to asset management, with the mission of providing professional accreditation as recognition of learning, while supporting the promotion of opportunities and professional development in the field of asset management.
The speakers highlighted the scope of asset management strategies for organizational success: across different contexts, countries, cultural frameworks, and environmental conditions, asset management and the culture that supports it have enabled high-standard results. Other topics focused on the human factors inherent in asset management, generational differences within the industry, and ways to continue preserving knowledge, passing it on to the next generation, and enriching it with new digital technologies.
