WIRAM GLOBAL SUMMIT 2025: a space for reflection for female voices leading asset management

Women in Reliability and Asset Management (WIRAM) is holding this summit for the third consecutive year, with the participation of leaders from the organization’s global chapters, to update the progress of women in the asset management industry and analyze the barriers and challenges that persist in the profession.

The WIRAM Global Summit is the meeting point for women in asset management, industrial maintenance, and facility management. This event is part of the annual agenda of activities organized by Women in Reliability and Asset Management (WIRAM) to highlight, elevate, and raise awareness of the role and contributions of women professionals in the business. Under the umbrella of the Association of Asset Management Professionals (AMP), this WIRAM is making an extraordinary effort to continue opening up more opportunities for personal and professional development and growth for women.

This summit will be held on October 9, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. (EDT), with the presence of prominent leaders who will analyze the challenges that women face in asset management and some alternatives for breaking gender stereotypes and overcoming prejudices linked to the role of women in the industry.

The event will be hosted by Terrence O’Hanlon, Executive Chairman of AMP, and Maura Abad, WIRAM Global Director, and will be divided into four presentations, one for each chapter participating in the WIRAM GLOBAL SUMMIT, providing a space for reflection for the female voices leading asset management.

Presentation Topics

The chapters participating in the Summit are WIRAM Africa, WIRAM Europe, WIRAM Canada, and WIRAM UK. Each presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session, during which the audience will be able to share their concerns and reflections.

  1. WIRAM Africa: “Building mental resilience for women in male-dominated industries” by Andronica Kwapeng, WIRAM Africa PR-Marketing.

Andronica will discuss the challenges women face in STEM fields, such as gender bias and the low representation this causes, among others, as well as some strategies for overcoming these obstacles.

  1. WIRAM Europe: “Breaking Barriers: succeeding as a first-time female manager”, by Maroua Ouerghemmi, Director of WIRAM Europe.

Maroua Ouerghemmi will discuss issues related to women’s leadership in executive positions, a highly relevant topic today that is related to WIRAM’s objectives.

  1. WIRAM Canada: “Understanding Today’s Multigenerational Workforce: Benefits, Challenges, and Best Management Practices”, by Margaret Trautwein, Co-Director WIRAM Canada Chapter, and Marcia O’Connor.

Margaret Trautwein and Marcia O’Connor will give the third presentation to explore intergenerational dynamics within asset management and industrial maintenance, different perspectives on leadership, and work-life balance. Identifying common values, leveraging accumulated experience, and capitalizing on the strengths of each generation are some of the topics that this presentation will offer to the audience.

  1. WIRAM UK: “A Young Person’s Journey into the Evolving World of Reliability and Asset Management” by Cristina Peter, Secretary-Treasurer of WIRAM UK.

Peter will discuss the challenges facing young people entering the asset management business, the importance of having the right mentors, and the need to develop strategic thinking and leadership skills.
